Marchi is a mobile application I developed to empower Tunisian citizens with real-time, community-driven grocery price tracking. Designed specifically for the local market, Marchi helps users stay informed about current prices, spot trends, and make smarter shopping decisions—while fostering transparency and accountability in local commerce.
The Idea Behind Marchi
In Tunisia, market prices can fluctuate significantly between regions, vendors, and even days. Marchi was created to solve a common frustration: not knowing where to find the best prices for basic goods like vegetables, fruits, meat, and dairy.
Through a simple, user-friendly interface, Marchi enables users to:
📍 Browse average prices by category and location
🛒 Add new price entries for items they’ve bought
🗺️ Use GPS to locate nearby markets
📈 Track trends in pricing over time
👤 Edit their profile and personalize the app experience
The app is tailored for Tunisian consumers, both in terms of language (Tunisian Arabic) and user behavior, with intuitive navigation and culturally adapted UX.
Key Features
Real-time crowd-sourced data: Prices are added by users in different markets across Tunisia
Category-based listings: From vegetables and fruits to meats and pantry items
Responsive design: Available on both Android and iOS, optimized for all screen sizes
Currency support: All listings are in Tunisian Dinar (TND)
No login required for browsing: Users can explore freely, while contributors can sign in to add or edit data
My Role
As the founder and lead developer, I was responsible for:
UI/UX design and localization for Tunisian users
Developing the app using Flutter, with Firebase for backend services
Implementing GPS-based market mapping and real-time data synchronization
Managing product roadmap, community engagement, and beta testing
Ensuring performance and scalability on both mobile platforms
Marchi is more than just a tech product—it’s a civic tool designed to increase transparency, fight inflation, and empower consumers in Tunisia with actionable information.
